We understand that workplace issues are sensitive and complicated, so we strive to understand the unique aspects of each client’s business and needs in order to assist our clients in making effective and important decisions about the workplace.
We provide counsel on all aspects of the employment relationship, including hiring practices and negotiation of employment agreements, leaves of absence, accommodation of disabled employees and students, discipline and termination, enforcement of confidentiality, non-compete and trade secret agreements, employee handbooks and employee benefits and equity compensation plans. We represent employers, including several schools and health care providers throughout New England.
We help employers comply with the constantly changing federal and state laws that govern the workplace, including by reviewing and updating employment handbooks, and ensuring that policies and procedures take into consideration the laws and needs of particular industries.
We provide proactive guidance to our clients to help them avoid compliance failures in the first instance. However, when disputes do arise, we represent our clients before state and federal administrative agencies, including the EEOC, the New Hampshire Commission on Human Rights and the Department of Labor, and in litigation before state and federal courts.
We regularly represent employers in the negotiation of complex executive compensation agreements. In addition, with the assistance of our corporate and insurance teams, we are able to offer employers guidance related to employee benefit plans, as well as the development and implementation of equity incentive compensation plans.
