Joe is a member of the firm’s Tax Practice Group, and assists clients in federal and state tax matters, business and financial planning.

Joe concentrates his practice on general business, federal and state tax matters, including structuring business transactions tax exempt organizations, and federal and state tax controversies.  Joe and the strong team of tax professionals at the firm regularly represent businesses before the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, other state tax agencies and the Internal Revenue Service.  He has represented numerous equipment leasing, venture capital and tax oriented syndication clients.

Prior to joining the firm in April, 2005, Joe was a partner in Stalter & Kennedy, LLP and a partner in the Boston office of two national law firms, where he represented clients on complex business tax matters and public policy matters before the Internal Revenue Service and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.  Joe has taught tax law courses at Vermont Law School, Franklin Pierce Law Center and Roger Williams School of Law.

  • Representing over 50 equipment leasing partnerships in U.S. Tax Court litigation disputing IRS interpretations of the Internal Revenue Code
  • Representing a private oil & gas company in a dispute over rights to a certain oil/water separator
