NEWS

A founding shareholder of the firm, Michael has led the Litigation Practice Group, specializing in business and commercial litigation matters, defense of medical malpractice actions, and prosecution and defense of personal injury matters.  He is an accomplished trial lawyer in all New Hampshire state courts and in the United States District Court, and brings extensive experience to the investigation, evaluation, settlement or trial of major cases.  Michael is a skilled litigator, but also an effective negotiator.  He recognizes the impact of litigation on a client and he maintains constant awareness of client needs, keeping them apprised of progress of the case and of opportunities for early resolution.  Michael has been and is selected by his peers to be listed in the Best Lawyers of America in the areas of business litigation and personal injury litigation.

In private practice since 1984, Michael has negotiated substantial settlements in lawsuits involving environmental claims, business disputes, class actions, medical malpractice, professional liability and personal injury.  Much of his work has been in complicated multi-party litigation in both state and federal courts in New Hampshire and in other states.  He has an excellent record in trying numerous civil jury trials since entering private practice.  In June 2000, Michael was elected to membership in the Trial Attorneys of America.  His education includes a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and law degree from Boston College Law School.

Prior to entering private practice, Michael served as Assistant Attorney General of New Hampshire and Chief of the Criminal Justice Division.

Michael is a former Nashua police commissioner.  He has been and is listed in Best Lawyers of America.  He is a past member of the New Hampshire Judicial Council.  Other civic activities include past election to the City of Nashua Board of Aldermen.  Michael is a former Little League coach.  Michael is a member of the Board of Overseers for Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.  He was a delegate to the 1988 Democratic National Convention and happily assists his wife Debora in her work and campaigning as a New Hampshire Governor's Councilor.  Michael is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Hampshire Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute.
